Uncertain Ground

Siglinde Johannesson, Gail Russell, Louise Morrison and Helen Bodycoat

11 November to 21 December 2008

Heathcote Museum and Gallery will be ending its annual exhibition program with a show by emerging local artists.

The new exhibition, Uncertain Ground, features a range of art forms by four talented artists inspired by the experience of navigating through uncertain psychological and environmental territory. An event tying in with the theme explored in this exhibition will take place on the Heathcote foreshore at 6.45pm on Friday, 7 November.

Artist Siglinde Johannesson said her work was a comment on human activity and its global impact on our planet. This show explores the experience of the familiar in our daily existence and lifestyle as well as the real price we are paying for our modern lives of commodities and comfort, she said. For artist Louise Morrison the exhibition contains works that reveal darker reflections on transience and persistence of hope.

Heathcote Museum and Gallery Curator Soula Veyradier said Uncertain Ground was an exhibition featuring sculptures, paintings, visual media and still objects. This exhibition will feature elements of the familiar yet surprising, she said.
